Page 355 Tilak- Asa Mahalla 1- ਭੋਜਨੁ ਭਾਉ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥ With the diet of His Love, doubt and fear depart. ਪਾਹਰੂਅਰਾ ਛਬਿ ਚੋਰੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥ With the Lord as your night watchman, no thief will dare to break in. ਤਿਲਕੁ ਲਿਲਾਟਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ॥ Let the knowledge of the One God be the ceremonial mark on your forehead. ਬੂਝੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਬੇਕੁ ॥੪॥ Let the realization that God is within you be your discrimination. ||4|| ਆਚਾਰੀ ਨਹੀ ਜੀਤਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ Through ritual actions, God cannot be won over; ਪਾਠ ਪੜੈ ਨਹੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇ ॥ By reciting sacred scriptures, His value cannot be estimated. ਅਸਟ ਦਸੀ ਚਹੁ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ The eighteen Puraanas and the four Vedas do not know His mystery. ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੫॥੨੦॥ O Nanak, the True Guru has shown me the Lord God. ||5||20|| Page 471 Janaeu- Asa Mahalla 1- ਦਇਆ ਕਪਾਹ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸੂਤੁ ਜਤੁ ਗੰਢੀ ਸਤੁ ਵਟੁ ॥ Make compassion the cotton, contentment the thread, modesty the knot and truth the twist. ਏਹੁ ਜਨੇਊ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਹਈ ਤ ਪਾਡੇ ਘਤੁ ॥ This is the sacred thread of the soul; if you have it, then go ahead and put it on me. ਨਾ ਏਹੁ ਤੁਟੈ ਨ ਮਲੁ ਲਗੈ ਨਾ ਏਹੁ ਜਲੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ It does not break, it cannot be soiled by filth, it cannot be burnt, or lost. ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਮਾਣਸ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜੋ ਗਲਿ ਚਲੇ ਪਾਇ ॥ Blessed are those mortal beings, O Nanak, who wear such a thread around their necks. ਚਉਕੜਿ ਮੁਲਿ ਅਣਾਇਆ ਬਹਿ ਚਉਕੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ You buy the thread for a few shells, and seated in your enclosure, you put it on. ਸਿਖਾ ਕੰਨਿ ਚੜਾਈਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਥਿਆ ॥ Whispering instructions into others' ears, the Brahmin becomes a guru. ਓਹੁ ਮੁਆ ਓਹੁ ਝੜਿ ਪਇਆ ਵੇਤਗਾ ਗਇਆ ॥੧॥ But he dies, and the sacred thread falls away, and the soul departs without it. ||1|| Page 504 Rosary Beads- Gujri Mahalla 1- ਚੇਤਹੁ ਬਾਸੁਦੇਉ ਬਨਵਾਲੀ ॥ Center your mind on the all-pervading Lord, the Wearer of garlands of the jungles. ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਜਪਮਾਲੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ Let your rosary be the chanting of the Lord's Name in your heart. ||1||Pause|| Page 939 Earrings- Ramkali Mahalla 1 Sidh Gosht- ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਮੁਦ੍ਰਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰੀ ॥ Let constant absorption in the Word of the Shabad deep within be your ear-rings; eradicate egotism and attachment. ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁ ਸਮਝ ਪਰੀ ॥ Discard sexual desire, anger and egotism, and through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, attain true understanding. ਖਿੰਥਾ ਝੋਲੀ ਭਰਿਪੁਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾਰੈ ਏਕੁ ਹਰੀ ॥ For your patched coat and begging bowl, see the Lord God pervading and permeating everywhere; O Nanak, the One Lord will carry you across. ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਾਚੀ ਨਾਈ ਪਰਖੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਖਰੀ ॥੧੦॥ True is our Lord and Master, and True is His Name. Analyze it, and you shall find the Word of the Guru to be True. ||10|| ਊਂਧਉ ਖਪਰੁ ਪੰਚ ਭੂ ਟੋਪੀ ॥ Let your mind turn away in detachment from the world, and let this be your begging bowl. Let the lessons of the five elements be your cap. ਕਾਂਇਆ ਕੜਾਸਣੁ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਗੋਟੀ ॥ Let the body be your meditation mat, and the mind your loin cloth. ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ Let truth, contentment and self-discipline be your companions. ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੧੧॥ O Nanak, the Gurmukh dwells on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||11||
